Da Mario Italian Rosebery

If you haven't realised, Roseberry's food precinct can rival any of Sydney's established food hubs. If you've been grieving the closure of the highly acclaimed Pizza Mario in Surry Hills, then head to its affiliate Da Mario on Morley Ave.

Occupying a large space Da Mario possesses the raw industrial edge that the area is known for. Exposed ceilings soar above smooth concrete floors and a line of ferns gently sway above the casual dining space. It certainly looks great and the authentic Italian menu is on point.

You’ll find a vast selection of pizzas, classic Italian starters and pastas with an additional daily specials offering.

Desserts comprise of some old favourites revisited with a da Mario twist and the wine list features both Australian and Italian options.

Rest assured the choice is abundant at Da Mario but be aware the chef Luca Cesaro is a purest so all requests to add or omit elements from your pizza topping will be politely refused. We love the hard line approach of no variations and with full respect to the carefully curated combinations we dive into the Margherita ‘extra’ pizza. Drawn to the specials, we opted for the starter of Buratta with pumpkin and pine nuts which was lovely and light on the palette with a smooth creamy texture. The pick for us however was the spaghetti mare with Morton Bay bugs, the flavours were incredible and oh my lord the semifreddo dessert is ridiculously addictive. The crunchy texture of hazelnuts and the sweet softness of the lightly stewed strawberries was a winning match.Mmmmmm, yep we will definitely be back.

Perusing the crowd it’s an eclectic mix at Da Mario, families and friends occupying large tables enjoying lunch together. Amongst the large groups and intimate couples, the fashion extends from comfort streetwear to women flashing high fashion pieces as they linger over aperol and pasta… Oh, actually that was just us but honestly dress however your mood takes you.

It’s certainly not a conservative crowd so feel free to express yourself.

ANGELA

Being the first day of Spring I dared to get the pins out and toughened up my otherwise pretty outfit with some chunky suede boots. The white, textured lace skirt has a broderie anglaise feel and it’s a recent purchase from one of my favourite stores Palma in Seminyak Bali. The sheer Lioness top with soft billowing sleeves has a velvet floral motif and its plunging neckline is then cinched at the waist with an old favourite belt from Samvara. My vintage Christian Dior sunglasses are so unique, I love that no one else has them and what I love about the Louis Vuitton Pochette Métis is that its both versatile and practical. Easily dressed up or down, it’s large enough to house all the essentials without being too big. I slung a coat from Witchery over myshoulders and the warm caramel colour lifts the jewel tones in my top… the perfect hues to wear as we happily kiss goodbye to Sydney’s winter.

MARGARITA

Ah spring, the perfect season for an aperol and a slice of pizza at Da Mario, if I do say so myself! It’s also the season of confusion! Do I need to wear tights? Shall I throw on a jacket? The answer to both of those questions was yes on this particular occasion.
I started this outfit by choosing my perfume. Having spied that Dolce and Gabbana have released a new edition called The One for women, which seemed like the perfect scent to don seeing as it’s Very Italian and fabulous with warm notes and a mandarin undertone.
I then chose my jacket a beautifully soft, cozy plum situation from Ralph Lauren, under it I wore a dress with a flowing hem by cotton on, girly but also loose enough to eat all that pasta and pizza. I adore the floral print which looks slightly modern due to the pixelated look to the flowers. My boots were also by Ralph Lauren, the super skinny heel and pointed toe finished the outfit nicely.

My bag was from chanel, a super individual piece which I picked up in Vegas and have loved for a year or so. This particular bag is perfect for winter and autumn being a black sherling with gold hardware, needless to say I wanted to give it a spin before the summer truly arrives and I have to retire the bag for another season.
